The newest B'nai B'rith project in Tucson has been named to honor Gerd and Inge Strauss, both Holocaust survivors who immigrated to this country after World War II. The Strauss' have taken an active role in senior housing since the 1970's and have been responsible for hundreds of apartment units across the country for low income elderly persons. After the passing of his wife in 2003, Mr. Strauss continued to actively seek additional federal funding to develop more apartments in Tucson. Addition of this project will increase the number of affordable units developed by B'nai B'rith in Tucson to 199. B'nai B'rith is the largest Jewish sponsor of affordable housing for the elderly in the United States.
The new Manor on Pantano looks more like a gracious retirement community than low income apartments. It is a beautifully maintained facility, with a wellness center and computer room; a well stocked library, gorgeous courtyard, gardens and a full time services coordinator. These are just some of the amenities available to its residents.
